what is Ovary ?

Ovary:

  • It is considered the female gonads.
  • Color of the ovary is whitish.
  • Located at the side of the lateral wall of the uterus in a region called the ovarian fossa.
  • Each Ovary size   2.5-5 cm long & 1.5-3 cm wide
  • Thickness 0.6-1.5 cm
  • Ovary weight are 2.0-3.5 gm

what is Ovary & the function of Ovary :

  • To produce monthly release of  egg cell
  •   To develop egg cell into mature  egg (oocyte)
  • To release a surge of  luteinizing hormone secreted by the pituitary gland when discharge oocyte
  • (mature egg) from ovary. It is called ovulation.
  • To secretes progesterone hormone to prepare the uterus for implantation of embryo
  •   To prepare the mammary glands for lactation.
  •  Secretes Estrogen hormone which is responsible for Puberty & for the maturation and safeguarding of the reproductive organs
  • The Fallopian tubes, also known as uterine tubes .
  • It located in the human female abdominal cavity.
  •    Its long 12 cm .

  • The fimbria.
  •  Infundibulum.

 Ampulla – where the ovum is fertilized.

Function of fallopian tube:

  •  Transport the egg from the ovary to the uterus.
  •  Provide a suitable environment for fertilization, and transport the egg from the ovary.
